For many years, Black Butterfly founder Michelle Valdez knew that one day she would create a travel agency to share her knowledge with other luxury seekers.
Bitten by the travel bug at a young age, Michelle grew up exploring museums, festivals, and events with her father. As a young adult she was afforded the opportunity to continue to travel and explore internationally while dreaming of creating a career in the travel industry. After years of consideration and finding the right sponsor, Michelle turned her passion into a profession by starting Black Butterfly Luxury Travel, a name she had loved since childhood.
Michelle is the Owner and President of Black Butterfly Luxury Travel company as well as Dezcorp Consulting, a human resources consulting firm. She operates both companies out of Baltimore, Maryland, and travels as much as work and responsibilities allow.
Prior to starting her thriving businesses, Michelle had a career spanning over 25 years in Human Resources working in fields from banking to retail, healthcare, and IT.
Michelle is also an Associate Adjunct Professor with the University of Maryland and the author of the children’s book Where is Mommy When I Need Her. She is a mentor and coach to up-and-coming professionals and a philanthropist, often gathering friends and family to prepare meals to feed the homeless.
Despite the many accolades for her work, Michelle says the reward of raising two beautiful, healthy, intelligent and caring children is her biggest accomplishment to date.
